Upcoming Book from Happy About "Happy
About m-Commerce!"
The time
has come for m-Commerce, according to Authors Thomas Wong and Colin Ong. Several
factors are in place to make it happen quickly. Among them are mobile contents
and entertainment, which have been heavily promoted by the telcos. Recent advancement
in mobile payments and security has also created a most favorable environment
for businesses to take on this new venture. Whether it is B2C or B2B, mobile users
are ready to perform commercial transactions via their wireless handsets.
Happy About m-Commerce is the first comprehensive account of the explosion of
m-Commerce services, applications, payment gateways, contents, and user experience.
It draws from the business experience in Asia and Europe and most recent development
in the US. A significant share of the efforts in the US is undertaken by major
e-Commerce companies, which find the mobile channel extremely attractive for expanding
their market share.
This unique account is supported by in-depth interviews
with 10 executives and case studies who are driving the global m-Commerce industry.
Several mobile/wireless startup stories from Silicon Valley are also included
to demonstrate their popularities among venture capitalists. M2M (or machine to
machine communication), for example, is one hot industrial application that goes
beyond mobile content and entertainment.
Happy About m-Commerce tells
the story of the making of m-Commerce markets and services worldwide, exploring
the "mobilization" that is transforming how we buy, sell, and communicate.

| About the Authors | |
| Thomas
Wong, M.S., is the CEO for Koyale, a Silicon Valley startup that develops
mobile shopping applications. His business management and IT consulting experience
includes 14 years with Intesync, Solectron (a top contract manufacturer of major
wireless products), Cisco, and Sun Microsystems, where he implemented new enterprise
software systems and managed technology curriculum development for 2,000 engineers.
His best-selling Web marketing book entitled "101 Ways to Boost Your Web
Traffic, 3rd Edition" is now published in the US, India, and Russia. Thomas
is also serving as the US Branch President of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area's e-Commerce
Expert Committee. | | Colin
TS Ong, is the Managing Director of MR=MC Consulting PTE LTD, a company
that provides new technology and HR articles for magazines and Web portals, corporate
training and research. His Internet workbook entitled "A Voyage to B2F2B"
helps to set the e-Commerce trends in Asia. Colin is a much sought-after mentor/catalyst
for participants at the Oxford University Business Plan Competition 2003 and a
judge for the StartUp@Singapore National Business Plan Competition 2004. He is
the founder of a vibrant online networking community called "12n". Its
members include business decision-makers around the world. He has reviewed a number
of books in new technologies, wireless communications, and management. |
| | For
years, Silicon Valley has been asking: "What is the next big thing?"
It now appears to be m-Commerce. IDC and Jupiter Media Metrix estimate that the
m-Commerce market in the US will grow from $5.7 billion in 2004 to $58.4 billion
in 2007. This is a small but rapidly growing number when compared to the more
developed European and Asian markets. There are more than 300 million cell phone
users in China, and they use SMS (text messaging) and wireless financial transactions
on a daily basis. According to CTIA, the Wireless Association, there are now 200
million cell phone subscribers in the US and half of them are actively buying
music, ring tones, and games through their cell phones. The explosive growth of
smart phones and PDAs further demonstrates the ROI potential of m-Commerce. It
is not a matter of "if," but a matter of "when" it will take
place.
